Sea Stars

Sea stars, commonly known as starfish, are fascinating marine invertebrates that come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. With their distinctive radial symmetry, most sea stars have five arms, though some species can have as many as 40. These animals are found in oceans worldwide, from tidal pools to deep-sea environments.
r Sea stars are carnivorous and feed on bivalves like clams and mussels by prying open their shells and everting their stomachs to digest their prey externally. They play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of benthic ecosystems.
r Sea stars are highly resilient and can regenerate lost arms, a process that can take months to years. However, they are sensitive to environmental changes, and some populations have been affected by diseases and pollution.
